Global Choices is the fiscal sponsor of The Last Ice Project.

Global Choices is an international, women-led nonprofit organization based in the United States and the United Kingdom, dedicated to the protection of the Central Arctic Ocean—often referred to as the ‘Heart of the Arctic.’ This region is classified as the High Seas, a global commons whose sea ice plays a critical role in regulating Earth’s climate by reflecting solar heat and radiation, stabilizing weather systems, and supporting ice-dependent species and ecosystems.

Through research, policy engagement, international collaboration, youth engagement, the Arctic Angels, and their 'We Can't Plant Ice! Campaign,  Global Choices works to advance precautionary approaches to safeguarding Arctic sea ice at the global scale. One such effort is the proposal of a time-limited moratorium on industrial exploitation  in the Central Arctic Ocean, intended to pause irreversible impacts while scientific understanding and international governance frameworks continue to evolve.

The Last Ice Project operates alongside this broader context as an independent, artist-led initiative. Rather than advancing policy positions, the project uses artistic practice, field research, and public engagement to make the realities of sea ice loss tangible and humanly legible. By working in direct relationship with Arctic landscapes, Indigenous knowledge holders, scientists, and cultural institutions, the project seeks to deepen public understanding of what sea ice is, what is being lost, and why its disappearance matters globally.

Together, Global Choices and The Last Ice Project share a commitment to awareness, care, and responsibility for the Arctic—Global Choices through international advocacy and innovative proactive policy and other efforts. The Last Ice Project through art as a form of witnessing, storytelling, and cultural reflection at a moment of profound environmental change.

GlobalChoices is a 501(c)(3) USA organization with an office in Aspen and London.
